This catalog represents 3260 entries in the Museum of Modern Art's holdings of paintings and sculpture with selected works on paper, through December 31, 1987.The first four editions of a catalog of the whole collection, Paintings and Sculpture in the Museum of Modern Art, were prepared by the Museum's first director, Alfred H. Barr, Jr., in 1942, 1948, 1956 and 1967. The fifth edition covers 1967 through 1977. This edition brings the catalog current as of 1987.
