Pity the poor Bursar at this English school whose life is ruled by the trials and tribulations of his demanding role. He faces challenges and situations which will make the reader laugh or cry whilst he copes with the haphazard, contradictory, or downright impossible demands of staff and governors; yet always rising to the occasion even when beaten by circumstances.
