Highly publicized human rights abuses involving corporations such as De Beers, Nike and Shell have focused attention on the impact of business on human rights. "Transnational Corporations and Human Rights" addresses this controversial topic through a diverse collection of essays from an interdisciplinary group of contributors. The book explores topics such as corporate social responsibility; the impact of transnational corporations (TNC's) on armed conflicts; and ethical codes of conduct. Several chapters discuss the impact of specific corporations and industries on human rights. These case studies range from the widely publicized negative effects of foreign oil companies in Nigeria to the positive engagement by a logging company with the Nuu-chah-nulth people in Canada.
