This is an open access book.

Southeast Asia is home to vibrant cultures, dynamic economies, and complex histories. Yet, beneath this diversity lies a persistent reality—numerous communities remain marginalised due to structural inequalities, historical injustices, and socio-political exclusions. This conference considers the historical and contemporary processes of marginalisation in Southeast Asia, analysing how structural forces perpetuate social exclusion while also exploring the resilience and resistance of marginalised communities. Drawing on case studies from various Southeast Asian countries, the conference could provide a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms of marginalisation and how affected communities navigate and contest their conditions. By amplifying these voices, this research contributes to the broader discourse on equity, inclusion, and policy interventions aimed at fostering a more just and inclusive Southeast Asian society.
