If you would like to learn how to successfully catch man-size-dinner-sized fish when you are powering along in full sail at speeds of between 5 to 7 knots, riding 3 metre high waves – this is the book for you. Because even the fanciest rod and reel combination in the world cannot cope with a fish on the hook heading off in one direction whilst your boat heads just as determinedly away in the opposite direction.I lost this top quality reel (cost 1,000 euros) a great rod, and a fair few kilometres of brand new line learning that lesson. I do believe it was a fish on the hook-end of the line; although the speed with which the line disappeared did make me consider, even briefly, that perhaps I had accidentally hooked a submarine!
