This collection of 10 short stories is set in a Chinese market in Taipei in the 1970s, with the theme being the coming-of-age story of the children in the market, and the "magician on the pedestrian bridge" plays a central role in connecting these stories. Using the magical realism style, the author recreates the past of a market: where the author grew up. Memories of an era, through the perspective of a child, although sometimes tragic, are still warm, sincere and full of hope.
