This book addresses three sets of issues: the causes, consequences and cures for the instability in financial markets, which is currently causing so much concern. It consists of twelve papers written by European and North American economists. The papers comprise a mixture of theoretical analyses of financial crises, studies of crises in different parts of the world and at different times, evaluations of different indicators of future crises, and assessments of the consequences of instability.
