How well do you remember your Grandparents? Maybe from an old black and white out of focus photograph? A fleeting memory of some elderly person with white hair and no teeth? Maybe I'm selfish - I don't want to be remembered by a photo. I want to feel that I've been part of my grandchildren's lives, I want to enjoy their company. I saw my own grandmother once a week, if I was lucky. Sadly, I didn't get to meet the other 'grands', they had all passed on before I turned up in the world. I want to share the experience of them growing up, watching them play football, dance, read, whatever they want to do. And when I leave this world, I will leave it content, full of the joys that those grandchildren have given me. How they have filled my life with their smiles and tears, with their laughter and with their unconditional love.
I wrote these words over a few months, before and during the Covid 19 Pandemic. This book is part memoir and diary snippets, part 'how to,' and part travelogue. Mainly, it's about celebrating and welcoming a new generation.
