Originally published in 1862. The author was a surgeon residing in Dulverton who spent many years hunting the Red Deer of Devon and Somerset. Contents include: Hunting in Olden Time - Natural History of the Red Deer - Hunting the Stag - Hounds, Hunts and Pack Records - An Exmoor Chase - Scent - Hunt Staff - Anecdotes and Incidents Connected with Deer hunting.
