CAAD Futures is a biannual conference that presents the state of the art in computer-aided architectural design research and teaching. The conference series started in 1985 in Delft, the Netherlands, and has since traveled to major cities in Europe, Asia, and North America. CAADfutures'09, held in Montreal, Canada, gave a new breath to this type of conference by inviting new disciplines, especially industrial design, to join the traditionally architectural discourse.

This book, as a collective work, brings together the most relevant research results in the domain, considering that CAAD futures conference participants coming from all over the world and accepted papers were double-blind peer-reviewed by an international scientific committee. Sixty papers were selected, which represents a 35 % level of acceptance. More than 30 countries were represented at this conference addressing more than 10 subjects concerning: heritage, design thinking, advanced geometry and parametric design, CAD education, virtual environments, interaction and new technologies, simulation, building performance, rapid prototyping, management, collaboration and ideation. All papers have been grouped in 10 chapters joining visions, cultures and languages of relevant issues of CAD research.

More information about the 2009 Conference and this book is available at: www.caadfutures.org
