Organized by the research Project Núcleo de Pesquisa e Curadoria of the Instituto Tomie Ohake, coordinated by Agnaldo Farias and invited art critic Tiago Mesquita, the exhibition "The First Tem Years" pretends to explore recurrences point, symptoms and concerns common to prominent names in Brazilian contemporary art. The commemorative event brings together both unpublished and already famous works created throughout the last decade and worthy of new narrative effort. This exhibition reaffirms one of the practices that contributed to the consolidation of the profile of the institution and which consists in presenting cutouts of Brazilian art signed by some of the country's most important curators. Paulo Herkenhoff devoted himself to the years 1950, Glria Ferreira from 1960 to 1970, Agnaldo Farias from 1980 to 1990 and, along with Moacir dos Anjos, also the "turning point generation". "The fact the Institute Tomie Ohtake acted primarily in the period between the post-World War II and today, has allowed these various readings, and "The First Ten Years" represent the current scene or the recent past, in which, though still in progress, you can glimpse evidence, mainly as a period of exceptional performance of young artists, never seen in the history of Brazilian art" said Ricardo Ohtake, Director of the Instituto Tomie Ohtake.
