A collection apers based on selected lectures given at the Current Development Mathematics Conference, held in November 2010 at Harvard University. Coverage includes the Arf-Kervaire problem in algebraic topology; the Friedlander-Milnor conjecture for groups of small rank; universal formulas for counting nodal curves on surfaces; recent results on representations of p-adic special orthogonal groups; and wellposedness of the two- and three-dimensional full water wave problem.
