A surrealist's dreamscape in both the sweetness of the day, and the darkness of the night. For those that search for balance both in the world, and within themselves; and those that have been searching endlessly for a home, or love, or liberation, or song, or themselves. Come, return to nature and explore with me. Listen to the drum of the ancients, sink deep into the darkest depths; listen to the song of the ghosts that haunt the shipwrecks; feel the torment as your will is so painfully stretched, then watch it all fall to dust. Now, hush. Later, you will find solace in the softness of the mornings, and begin to mend by the sea. You'll soon fly and be free, and when you're done, you will find home right by the chest of the heart that teaches you love. The Night Knows Your Name is a collection of poetry I started writing in conjunction with my therapy. It served as a great means of externalizing and exploring the themes of heartbreak, despair, anger, confusion through my early days of recovery. Through these pages, I was also able to relive my joy, and cement little pieces of wisdom I discovered along the way. These pieces inevitably paved a clearer road for my journey inward to clearer sight of who I really am, which has now led me to you.I have sectioned the book according to emotional themes: Ghost Love, Sorrow, Anguish, Healing, Way, Fire, and Home - and you can read it in that order as a journey to the light, or pick a poem from a chapter that your heart yearns to read from; some can serve as prayers, which you can recite as mantras, which you can meditate upon whenever you are idle. Wherever you are on your journey, I hope you honour it, and whichever way you choose to read this book, I hope you will begin to learn your name in the night, just as I have begun to learn mine.
