This book is one one level the history of a British family from the 16th century up until the late 19th century when they migrated first to Australia and then the New Zealand. One another level it is about the history of these times and how this group of families respond to often turbulent times. So while it will be of keen interest to the Adams, Dunn, Cross, Kay, Waugh families and many others along the way it will also interest the academic and general reader with an interest in migration, religious persecution and the agrarian, agricultural and industrial revolutions. The role of women is teased out in each period. Overall the book seeks to give meaning to the migration decisions of these families both within Britain and in the big late 19th century migrations to Australia and New Zealand.
