Excerpt from The Case of Rollin White: Statement of Fact and Brief for Mr. White <p>The patent on this invention, as well as upon two other inventions, was granted on April 3, 1855. <p>Mr. Colt's revolver patent of 1836, having been once ex tended for seven years, expired finally by limitation in 1857.
