"This book aims to summarize and report the major research achievements and validation results of the Global Land Cover initiative led by the Group of Earth Observation (GEO). Part 1 of the book looks at the major challenges facing the validation of finer resolution GLC maps and presents the concepts and overall framework of the initiative. Part 2 provides a systematic introduction of the major methodology for finer resolution GLC map validation. Part 3 introduces the online validation tools developed and part 4 presents international validation practices and the results of GlobeLand30 at country, regional and global scale. Future directions are also discussed"--
