The 13th annual volume of the National Gallery's Technical Bulletin reports recent research into the history, technique and conservation of works in the Collection. Written jointly by art historians, restorers and scientists of the National Gallery staff, this issue includes articles on the restoration of the Leonardo Cartoon, the investigation and treatment of a complete altarpiece by Carlo Crivelli, and a technical study of Caspar David Friedrich's Winter Landscape. A discussion of the reduction of damaging UV-radiation in museum lighting and a regular survey of new results in paint media analysis completes this issue.
