After war broke out in Southeast Asia in 1957, many people lost their homes and had to leave. One group of people, the Hmong, lived in Laos. After the war, many Hmong came to the United States. The Hmong are famous for their beautiful sewing. They sew pictures on cloth to tell stories. These story cloths help them remember their history. This book – No. 9 in the Waterford Institute Read-Along series – tells the story of one such Hmong family’s story cloth, which traces their escape from their war-torn village in Laos to the United States.
