Designed as a resource for speaking and listening at Key Stage 1, the "Spoken Word Project Starter" series contains illustrated and photographic material based around children's everyday experiences, with identifiable recurring characters. The books are presented in both "big book" and normal formats so that discussion can begin in groups with a teacher, and progress to smaller groups or pairs.
