Coronary heart disease is the largest single cause of premature death (death before the age of 75 years) in the UK, yet it is largely preventable. The key modifiable risk factors are cholesterol, physical inactivity, high blood pressure, smoking and obesity, whilst others are diet and alcohol intake. Produced by the National Heart Forum, this report estimates how changes in each of these risk factors among the population of England could lead to a reduction in coronary heart disease mortality and incidence over the next decade.
