The highest values are in the northern part of the Niagara Escarpment near Georgian Bay, and along the top of the northeast section of the Greenbelt south of Lake Simcoe. [...] To illustrate the direct correlation between natural cover in a watershed and the level of drinking water quality, the Walkerton Inquiry recommended source protec- tion as one of the most effective and efficient means of protecting the safety of Ontario's drinking water.
