
"Summer 2010" is a collection of poems written by JCMjr while he was on his summer break away from his artist's studio at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, USA. That summer break was spent at James' father's home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA, It was there, along the ocean, that James reconnected with his past youthful summers along the seashore and his affection and deep love afar with the female form and Nature, as they exist together by the sea shore. Nature and the female form have always shared a common theme in James's poetry and this collection of poems celebrates that sacred union. James created these two collections of line drawings during his time in New York City at the School of Visual Arts in 2010 and at the School of Visual Arts Alumni Drawing Lab during 2011. In 2011 James began his recovery from his numerous surgeries during his physical therapy sessions after James was hit by a New York City MTA bus that ran a red light on October 12, 2010 and hit James while he was in the crosswalk. James started going to the SVA Alumni Drawing Lab to reconnect with his place again as an artist and with his artist's community in New York City. "When I came back to life in the middle of 14th street my body as I knew it was broken. All of my hopes and dreams for a golden future, as a filmmaker, were suddenly destroyed. I was physical and mentally decapitated. My epic journey of chronic pain and recovery began as I got pulled into the New York City social services system for the homeless and disenfranchised. Drawing helped my heart heal. Soon I found myself in the middle of the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York City. I was looking for answers, protesting against the social and economic injustices of New York City in 2011 and that turned me into a global social-media artist-poet who was protesting with a global social-media movement that wanted social and economic equality around the world.
