Atlantic Beach, NC was home to Grace Burke, who at age 14 found summers in the Crystal Coast beach town full of sun, sand and surfing. This was the summer before her 8th grade year of school and she had envisioned herself exploring who she really wanted to be. “The Burke” cottage, which had been in the family for four generations, and was set amongst vacation rentals, brought a constant flow of new families moving in and out through the summer months. Little did Grace know the full impact the brief encounter she had with a first love that summer of 2010 would have on her coming of age and the paths she would take throughout her life as she grows into adulthood.
