An account of a pilot study on the motives and feelings of fifteen Dutch couples who hid Jewish children during the war, and the experiences of the children. The main motives cited by the couples were pity, anti-German feelings, and their obligation as Christians, even though German antisemitic propaganda was quite effective in the Netherlands.
