This first Rijswijk Textile Biennial see work of sixteen contemporary visual artists who use textiles. From house painter, sculptor and graphic artist, they realized at some point in their careers that textile was the ultimate means of expression for their ideas. For that to happen, they had to create new techniques, and familiar with other materials. They approach ancient textile techniques and materials, often unorthodox way, from a contemporary perspective, the computer often plays an important role.
