This is the story of a unique studio which, based in Barcelona, has worked in architecture for fifty years, through which we can follow its evolution and interpret the changes in this art in a period of great transformations, both at home and abroad. In 1957 Josep Ribas González founded with Josep Anglada and Daniel Gelabert the AGR studio. In 1987 AGR became a family studio when Josep Ribas Folguera, son of the founder, joined the firm. Today, Ribas & Ribas is a grand studio that includes specialists in the diverse fields of architecture and urban planning, and works in projects of great scope. This commemorative book compiles, at the hand of Daniel Giralt-Miracle, the most outstanding or representative projects of Ribas & Ribas, written in chronological order through plans, photographs and a rigorous textual analysis. This chronicle, fully documented, enables us to see that the studio has followed, like the history of architecture, a process that goes from the local to the global setting, in which the role of technologies is increasingly more important, but without forgetting that, above all else, architecture is a cultural act, an art, a poetry, at the service of individuals and communities.
