The ancient and enduring spirit of the Jewish tradition comes alive in the Hebrew Illuminations of artist Adam Rhine. Rhine has created ornate, highly detailed Judaica paintings in watercolor and acrylic. His style is heavily influenced by medieval illuminated manuscripts which he combines with modern palettes and aesthetics. Each work is crafted to honor the infinite nobility of the Lord, and to visually bring forth His energy within different combinations of overlapping shapes, rich colors, and intricate patterns. Sample caption: "...the Torah of the Lord is perfect, it restores the soul..." — Psalm 19:8 Torah – the words of the Almighty given to Moses on Mt. Sinai. These commandments to the Jewish people were taught by Moses as the "Oral Law," which was eventually recorded in the 63 books of the Talmud. At the end of his 120 years, Moses wrote the first Sefer Torah (Torah scroll) as told to him, word for word by the Lord, known today as the "Five Books of Moses."
