This annual publication contains a compilation of statistics about passenger and freight traffic through UK ports, as well as on merchant ships owned or registered in the UK and the Crown Dependencies, and the world fleet. Findings include that, during 2004, total freight traffic through UK ports increased by 17.4 million tonnes to 573.1 million tonnes. Imports through all UK ports in 2004 were estimated at 250.4 million tonnes, up nine per cent, with exports estimated at 169.6 million tonnes, down three per cent, whilst domestic traffic increased by 0.6 million tonnes to 153 million tonnes.
