Author Description

This report describes the structure role and scope of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) as the main advocate for global action in the context of HIV/AIDS. With the support of its eight cosponsors (UNICEF UNDP UNFPA UNDCP ILO UNESCO WHO and the World Bank) UNAIDS leads strengthens and supports an expanded response aimed at preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS providing care and support reducing the vulnerability of individuals and communities to HIV/AIDS and alleviating the impact of the epidemic.
