The FV Viking Storm was selected to carry out a project that included the design and construction of a twin trawl system to be compared with the operation of single trawl nets currently used by the Viking Storm. The purpose of the project was to demonstrate that British Columbia groundfish trawlers could significantly increase their gear performance and catch per litre of fuel consumed. This report describes the twin trawl system design, construction and installation and presents the results of the project.
