"When Jorg Schmeisser was working as a draftsman at an archaeological site near Haifa in 1956, a fellow volunteer showed him a translation of Constantine Cavafy's poem 'Ithaka'. Later he met the poem in its German and Japanese translations; it has stayed with him and the title of the show derives from there. The book is the most comprehensive exhibition to date of the artist's prints, and covers his work of the last 32 years". -Foreword.
