Excerpt from Compositae Newsletter: June, 1997 In our former studies on the genus, we have observed specimens identified by other authors as D. Austriacum having glandular hairs all over the plant, and other specimens lacking this hair type on the involucral bracts, peduncles and stems. Using the current keys both specimen types can be included in D. Austri'acum because of little precision in the use of the indumentum character. But only the specimens lacking glandular hairs on the involucral bracts, peduncles and stems agree with the protologue where there is no mention of the presence of this kind of uichomes.
