The present edition provides data on some 85,000 periodicals, i.e., publications having a frequency of issue at least once every two years. The types of periodicals listed include consumer magazines, directories, government publications, house organs, newsletters, newspapers, trade journals, transactions and proceedings of scientific societies, yearbooks, and ethnic, literary, museum, religious and social group, and association publications. The arrangement is alphabetical by subject classification and title, with ample finding aids. Each entry includes as many as 46 fields of information, with an average being about 25.
