From Library Journal The strength of this new job guide lies in its unique compilation of information and its inclusion of valuable material generally found in other sources. Written for graduates seeking employment in the Washington area, it contains in the main section an alphabetical listing of more than 2100 organizations, federal government agencies, Capitol Hill affiliations, and Congressional offices with the names of hiring contacts. Preceding chapters include brief, introductory recommendations for job searching and strategy, an alphabetical listing of 70 alumni club presidents presented for networking purposes, and special insights for disabled persons, minorities, women, and gays and lesbians. Surprisingly, the author offers advice on how to travel and where to live, dine, and shop in Washington and neighboring Virginia and Maryland, a feature not found in Thomas M. Camden and Karen T. Polk's How To Get a Job in Washington (Surrey Books, 1990). Of particular interest are a subway map and ready-to-use universal federal government, Senate, and House placement office applications. Recommended for career collections. - Marilyn Rosenthal, Nassau Community Coll. Lib., Garden City, N.Y. Copyright 1993 Reed Business Information, Inc.
