Author Description

Celia Davies was born in 1902 and she provides a vivid picture of her life in Edwardian England. She carries her story on beyond that August in 1914 when the whole social structure changed for ever. Until she was seven years of age she lived at Woodford Green in Essex and the first part of the narrative revolves around that neighbourhood and her immediate family. Later she moved to Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire and as she became more aware of her surroundings the story widens into an account of early schooling, visits to the Zoo and other outings.
