
This booklet sets out a policy framework to assist Ontario boards of education in developing and implementing a drug education policy. The framework outlines five principal components: prevention of drug use through education; intervention and counselling; procedures for dealing with drug-related incidents; development of partnerships with students, parents, and the community; and approaches to policy implementation, including in-service training for teaching and non-teaching staff as well as monitoring and evaluation of school board policies. The booklet summarizes the policy development process and goals before discussing each of the five components.
