The French baritone Pierre Bernac (1899-1979) is best known for his legendary duo with Francis Poulenc (he was the direct inspiration for most of Poulenc's songs). However, he was also instrumental in bringing many works by other contemporary composers before the public, such as Ravel, Honegger, Jolivet and Sauguet. In this book, Myriam Chimnes draws on interviews with Pierre Bernac, his colleagues and former pupils, and also on his personal archives.
