Charles Martin's letters, composed in a conversational, anecdotal style, are rich in both their scope and in their sensitive understanding of young people. These 45 letters, edited by Louise D. Piazza, were originally written to parents of boys aged 9 through 18 who attended St. Albans School in Washington, D.C. during Martin's 28-year headmastership.
