We entered this war as a peace-keeping force to ensure the safety of British Citizens and other Foreign Nationals and to transport them to the safety of the British Sovereign Base at Royal Air Force Station Akrotiri.We were not to engage the Turkish forces. We had been notified that there were Turkish Military road blocks along some of our routes. We were to request them to allow us through without conflict.We were not to open fire. On one occasion we were fired upon, but were not authorized to open fire ourselves.
