Uses the classical Western debate format to gain further insight into controversial topics in the field of Human Behavior in the Social Environment (HBSE). Twenty debates, argued by social work scholars, tackle such questions as neo-positivism, stage theories of development, critical thinking, minority issues, the place of ethics in a world of facts and ideas, and political correctness. The stated goal of the book is to help the reader think more clearly about the subjects discussed; however, the format feels a bit claustrophobic with only two perspectives presented on each subject.
