On 5 September 1988, Canada entered into an Agreement-in-Principle (AIP) with the Dene Nation and the Metis Association of the Northwest Territories to settle the land claims of the approximately 8,000 Dene and 5,000 Metis in that area. This paper highlights provisions of the AIP, and provides some brief commentary.
