The is the second novel in the The Jacks trilogy. Set in the North-West town of Monkston in the late sixties we follow the local detectives, colloquially known as the Jacks as they investigate the disappearance of the landlady of a local pub, The Saracen's Head. It is known that she went to midnight Mass on Christmas Eve at her local RC Church but here whereabouts after that are a mystery.A few days later a young student nurse is reported missing from the Nurse's Home at a local Mental Hospital. She too worships at the same RC Church as the Pub landlady. The Jacks are suspicious of the resident Priest. Is he concerned in these disappearances?
