Progress in conception control There is a massive accumulation of knowledge that will increase exponentially over the next few years. Dissemination of this knowledge is part of the Hippocratic duty. That we may do this properly, we must evaluate critically and thoroughly the data available, so that we may turn out responsible practitioners who have sound knowledge of the demographic, social, cultural, and anthropologic aspects of population control. Similarly in schools of nursing: for in the near future a wide variety of personnel will participate in the provision of medical care for the populace at large. The role of the obstetrician and gynecologist is now becoming that of the physician responsible for the care of the women during reproductive and post climacteric life. It is essential therefore that we study all aspects of birth control in relation to the overall physical and endocrine status of the patient.
