John F. Kennedy was elected 35th President of the United States in 1960. As the first president to be born in the 20th century, this dynamic and modern leader and his attractive young family swiftly became the heart and soul of the new American order. Kennedy was in office a total of 1,037 days before an assassin's bullet took his life in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. Grief stricken Americans we were planted in front of their television sets as the world witnessed four of the darkest days in our nation's history. On May 29, 2017 we celebrate JFKs 100th birthday. In honor of that momentous occasion, we dedicate this photo book to Kennedy's short but storied time as president. This book includes 207 original White House photographer images that chronicle highlights from Kennedy's daily life as president. Photographs in both color and black&white.
