Author Description

Christian Andrews, orphaned to indenturement at age five, takes to sea on advice from an aged whaler-man, who mentors him with talks of "foreign sights, foreign fruits, and foreign ladies too." This whirlwind coming-of-age saga has all the tribulations and treacheries of life at sea in the early 19th Century, including a cryptic map to treasure, undecipherable by the impressionable youth, as he struggles with his identity in scenarios of fear and love, trial and error.
