An account of the activities of the committee established in September 1956 in order to help Dutch survivors of Auschwitz to express themselves and to have a place where others would listen to their grievances. At first, the indifference of the Dutch government and of the population at large was very difficult to bear. In quite a few instances the activists were marked as "communists" (then a very dirty word). Since 1996, the committee has become a recognized organization and is engaged in commemorating the Holocaust through memorial events, newsletters, and trips to Auschwitz.
