The text balances the importance of international security with international political economy, and demonstrates that while power still matters, economic forces now rival military ones. This edition has been fully revised and now includes coverage of the Asian financial crisis, NATO expansion, the creation of a single European agreement in Bosnia, war in central Africa, UN peacekeeping and the changing US-UN relationship. Feminist and postmodern scholarship in the area is explored and a global level of analysis is used to reflect the interdependence of global issues.
