
The Longman Bibliography of Composition and Rhetoric offers teachers and researchers an annual classified listing of scholarship on written English and as teaching. This volume cites over 3800 titles that, with few exceptions, were published during the 1984 2nd 1985 calendar years. The bibliography lists each work once, annotates all citations, cross references ibem when appropriate, and indexes all authors and editors. A group of 151 contributing bibliographers. whose names appear on pp. xi-xii, prepared the citations and annotations.<br/>SCOPE OF THE BIBLIOGRAPHY<br/>The Longman Bibliography includes works that treat written communication, the processes whereby human beings compose and understand written messages, and methods of teaching people to communicate effectively in writing. The bibliography lists entries in six major categories (see the Contents for a roller description of these categories):<br/>Bibliographies and Checklists<br/>Theory and Research<br/>Teacher Education, Administration, and Social Roles<br/>Curriculum<br/>Textbooks and Instructional Materials<br/>Testing, Measurement, and Evaluation<br/>The bibliography makes few restrictions on the format, medium, or purpose of the works it includes, so long as the subject of the work falls into one of the six categories. It lists only published works: books, ankles, monographs, published collections (of essays, conference presentations, or working papers), extbooks, bibliographies and other reference works, computer software, films, microforms, videotapes, 2nd sound recordings. Although it excludes masters theses, book reviews, and works written in languages other than English, it includes citations for unpublished doctoral dissertations appearing in Dissertation
