This volume completes a record of World War II as experienced by the people of East Anglia. It presents a social history of a region that was nearest the battle fronts; from its air bases, British and American armadas conducted their bombing assault on the enemy; the Royal Navy sailed from its ports to fight the E-boats; its factories produced aircraft and munitions; its vast farmlands helped to feed the population; and its townspeople of every Allied nation made acquaintance. East Anglian regiments of the Army were involved in the whole field of conflict in France, Germany, the Low Countries and Italy, in Singapore, in the Burmese jungles and the Japanese prisoner-of-war camps.
