Excerpt from Arctic Manual: 17 January 1944 The viewpoint adopted in this manual is primarily that of Army personnel who will have to travel in the Arctic and live away from permanent posts. Although this group is in the minority, its problems are so much greater than those of men stationed at established posts that this emphasis seems proper. However, nearly all of part one and chapters 1, 4, and 7 of part two contain much information that is valuable to anyone stationed anywhere within the Arctic and sub Arctic. Because of space limitations, this manual deals particularly with Arctic North and omits discussion of Arctic Europe and Asia.u 3. *tm 1-240.
